Actor Carlo Bellario says he was just playing a drug dealer with a fake gun when officers arrested him in Woodbridge.
UPDATE: Comedian charged for fake gun during filming keeps waiting for the punch line
WOODBRIDGE -- An actor and comedian has been charged for having a fake gun while filming a movie in a residential neighborhood in Woodbridge last year, according to News 12 New Jersey.
Carlo Bellario says that in November he was playing a bodyguard for a drug dealer in a "small, independent film," and that during a car chase scene he would be "shooting at a car" in front of him, according to Bellario's GoFundMe page created shortly after the incident.
However, he wrote that neighbors did not know a movie was being filmed and subsequently called the police.
News 12 New Jersey reported that they didn't have a permit to film or have a replica gun.
Bellario was arrested and charged with weapons possession. He had served four days in the Middlesex County Jail.
He could face five years in prison, according to News 12 New Jersey.
