SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- Two of the seven injured in Thursday morning's bus crash on Route 130 in South Brunswick were in serious condition in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick as of late Thursday afternoon.
Police said a 61-year-old female from Princeton was hospitalized with a fractured pelvis and ribs while a 35-year-old man from Brick Township has a fractured back.
A 42-year-old man from the Dayton section of South Brunswick, who was also taken to the hospital, was treated and released.
Police identified the driver of the Suburban Transit bus as Jamal L. Penten, 30, of Lakewood.
Capt. James Ryan of the South Brunswick Police Department said the crash was reported at 6:30 a.m. and closed down Route 130 for two hours.
The bus, headed south, failed to stop and struck nine vehicles as it approached Friendship Road. The vehicles were all stopped for a red traffic signal at the time they were struck. The bus pushed several of the vehicles off the roadway, he said.
