A veteran Perth Amboy firefighter with more than a decade of experience has been promoted to captain.
PERTH AMBOY --Robert Bunten was sworn in Thursday as a captain with the Perth Amboy Fire Department.
A veteran of the department, who began as a volunteer and joined full time in 2005, Bunten was sworn in Thursday afternoon in the council chambers at City Hall by Mayor Wilda Diaz.
"Firefighter Bunten has a great deal of training as a member of this department for over 10 years, while first starting as a volunteer firefighter," Diaz said. "We congratulate him for reaching such a milestone (today) and for being a dedicated public safety official."
Bunten will be assigned as the truck officer on Battalion 2. He has been involved in both the Marine and Special Operations Division.
