Traffic is backed up for more than a mile.
WOODBRIDGE -- Both directions of the Garden State Parkway are back open Tuesday afternoon in Woodbridge after emergency work to repair a downed wire.
Tom Feeney, a spokesman for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, said the lanes were open at about 1:10 p.m.
The closure occurred just south of the Route 1 interchange, the state DOT said. There is some pre-existing construction work going on in the area.
Traffic was so bad for about a half hour that several people got out of their cars to see what the delay was for.
By 1:20 p.m., traffic was moving, albeit slowly, through the area again.
