METUCHEN -- Edgar Middle School sixth-grade student Amrita Sutradhar is the New Jersey winner of the Library of Congress "Letters About Literature" contest.
The students in grades 4 to 12 who entered the contest each wrote a letter to an author explaining how that author's book affected them. Amrita wrote to author Wendy Mass about her book, "A Mango-Shaped Space." Amrita's letter has been entered into the national competition.
In addition to Amrita, Edgar Middle School sixth-graders Alan Wu and Molly Malague received Distinguished Honors in the grades 4 to 6 division for their letters.
The students will be honored in May at a reception at Rutgers University.
