Charges against the goat have not been announced.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- A loose goat caused some traffic problems as it ran free on Kingston Road Friday morning.
The goat, whose name is Peanut, somehow got out of its backyard, where it was kept as a pet.
And police say that even though the calendar might be cause for incredulity, they're not kidding.
"We may have changed over the years, but animals escaping has always happened here," said Captain James Ryan of the South Brunswick Police Department.
The goat was on the lam for about 15 minutes, but managed to block rush-hour traffic near Crossroads South Middle School.
Corralling the goat was just like corralling a dog, the officers on scene told Ryan: They simply walked back into the backyard, and the goat followed. (Also, the goat responded to its name.)
The goat is now under house arrest, according to the South Brunswick Police Department. A photograph on Twitter showed its penitentiary: A fenced-in yard with a few cinder blocks in its way.
