SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- Authorities have identified the 26-year-old driver killed after his car veered off the road, went airborne, and landed on its roof early Saturday morning.

Robert Wayda Jr., of Sayreville, had been driving north on Cranbury-South River Road around 3:30 a.m. when his vehicle -- a 2000 Infiniti G20 -- left the road for reasons police are still trying to determine.

The car flipped over onto its roof and landed on the front lawn of a corner business, previous reports said. Wayda was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Though the investigation is ongoing, officials said in a statement on Monday that the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office had conducted an autopsy over the weekend and determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

Wayda was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The South Brunswick Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau is investigating the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 732-329-4646.
