SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- Officials have released video footage showing Monday's crash on Route 130 in which a car struck a police cruiser with an officer sitting inside writing a traffic summons.

Surveillance video, which is far away and difficult to make out, shows the car, a white Mazda being driven by 24-year-old Jordan Pinnock of South Brunswick, crashing into the back of the police cruiser with South Brunswick police Officer Gregory Boldizar inside, according to a statement from the South Brunswick Police Department on Tuesday.

Both sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police also released dashcam footage of moments before the crash.

Boldizar had pulled the tractor-trailer over on the southbound side of Route 130 for speeding.

Police, who are continuing to investigate the crash, have not charged Pinnock at this time, the statement said. Police on Tuesday said that traffic investigators are looking into the "possibility that Pinnock suffered a medical condition prior to the crash."

At around 1:40 p.m., after speaking to the truck driver on the side of the road, Boldizar returned to his patrol car to process paperwork.

Witnesses say Pinnock "had been driving (on) Route 130 South in the left lane when he drifted into the right lane, then onto the shoulder, then partially onto the grass before striking the patrol car," the statement said.

The crash left Boldizar bleeding, but he nevertheless "exited his car to check on Pinnock" who was "disoriented and had no recollection of what had happened," officials said.

They were both taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center where Boldizar was treated for a head laceration and a sprained elbow. Pinnock was also treated, and they were both later released, according to the statement.
