Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is hosting a pair of rallies in N.J. on Sunday and Monday.
TRENTON -- Democratic White House hopeful Bernie Sanders is scheduled to host a pair of rallies in New Jersey as his fight for the nomination continues.
The Vermont senator will be in Piscataway Sunday evening and in the shore town of Atlantic City Monday morning. It's the first time Sanders is hosting a pair of rallies in New Jersey, which holds its presidential primary on June 7.
Sanders' Piscataway rally will be held at Rutgers University's athletic center. It begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The following morning, Sanders will visit the Atlantic City boardwalk for a 9:30 a.m. rally.
Ben & Jerry's founders stump for Sanders
Sanders faces an uphill climb to the nomination since former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton secured enough delegates to make it mathematically impossible for the Vermont senator to secure enough delegates in the remaining primary contests. However, Sanders aides have suggested the campaign's path to the nomination is in securing superdelegates.
The Democratic nominee needs to win 2,383 delegates to lock up the nomination. Clinton leads with 2,205 delegates, including 522 superdelegates, and Sanders trails with 1,401 delegates, which includes only 39 superdelegates.
On Monday, the co-founders of Ben & Jerry's ice cream visited Jersey City to drum up support for Sanders, calling their home-state senator "genuine and authentic."
In front of a crowd of hundreds at Zeppelin Hall, Ben Cohen said Sanders is the candidate with the proposals to combat the nation's "rigged" economic and justice systems. Sanders' supporters have been silenced by the establishment, Cohen said.
In April, Sanders hosted a massive rally in New York City.
