WOODBRIDGE -- A man leaped to his death off the Driscoll Bridge Tuesday morning, police said.

Authorities responded at around 7 a.m.

The man, whose identity is not known at this time, jumped off the Alfred E. Driscoll Bridge of the Garden State Parkway from the southbound lanes near mile marker 127.3, according to Sgt. Jeff Flynn of the New Jersey State Police.

Flynn said police were still in the process of notifying the next of kin.

Perth Amboy police went into the water and were able to recover the body. The man was pronounced dead at about 7:45 a.m., Flynn said.

The matter remains under investigation, but Flynn said there was nothing to indicate foul play based on the preliminary investigation.

Another person leaped to her death off the Driscoll Bridge in February. She had jumped from the southbound lanes near mile marker 127.5, according to a previous report.

The bridge carries Parkway traffic over the Raritan River, connecting Woodbridge and Sayreville.
