The prosecutor and defense attorney will present their summations in the 25-year-old murder case involving Michelle Lodzinski

NEW BRUNSWICK -- After a parade of witnesses and weeks of testimony, the trial of a former South Amboy mother accused of killing her 5-year-old son Timothy Wiltsey 25 years ago is drawing to a close.

On Wednesday, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Christie Bevacqua and defense attorney Gerald Krovatin are expected to sum up their case to the jury.

Prosecutors charged Lodzinsky with Timothy's death in August 2014. Their case has been based on circumstantial evidence, and experts have said that it would have been a circumstantial case whether it went to trial in 1992 or 2016.

Bevacqua will likely remind jurors how Lodzinski changed her story multiple times about how Timothy disappeared, how witnesses said she showed little emotion when he disappeared, and how his body was found near a place where she was previously employed.

Krovatin will likely tell jurors there is no way to convict Lodzinski because investigators never determined how Timothy died, or even that he was murdered. Little evidence about Timothy's death remained when his body was found in a swampy area of Raritan Center in Edison, exposed to the elements for 11 months.

For a conviction, prosecutors must prove to the jury that Lodzinski knowingly and/or purposely killed her son.
