A New Jersey man stole more than $52,000 from a motel owner in Wyoming by cashing checks for supplies but never delivering the merchandise, according to reports.

Nilay D. Shah, 39, of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge is charged with two counts of felony theft, 96kqsw.com reported.

Shah, the owner and operator of d'Hotel Supplies in the Iselin section of Woodbridge, cashed checks for $29,645 and $22,825 from a man who owns Super 8 motels in Rock Springs and Green River, authorities told RocketMiner.com. Both checks represented half the amount of each order and were placed in January 2014.

The owner never received the supplies, authorities allege.

At one point someone from d'Hotel Supplies emailed the owner to say the supplies were being held in customs. The owner never heard from Shah or his company again, RocketMiner.com reported.

Shah was arrested in New Jersey and extradited to Sweetwater County, Wyoming earlier this week, Q96 reported.
