More than $300,000 was raised at the 10th annual Children's Specialized Hospital Walk n' Roll
PISCATAWAY -- Hundreds attended the 10th annual Walk n' Roll for Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation at Johnson Park on Saturday where more than $300,000 was raised to help children with special health care needs reach their fullest potential, a statement from the hospital said.
The event -- which was themed "Hats Off" -- commemorated the hospital's 125th anniversary of helping these children from birth to 21 years old.
More than 2,200 people -- including parents, children, hospital staff and community members -- helped to raise the funds.
Kim Hanemann, senior vice president of delivery projects and construction at PSE&G and a Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation trustee, said in the statement: "It's great to meet the patients and families that will benefit from our efforts, and we say 'Hats Off' for breaking new fundraising records in 2016."
The hospital said that Hats Off was a "unique way to show appreciation to early founders, supporters, physicians, and dedicated staff members who have helped Children's Specialized Hospital grow to meet the demanding needs of children recovering from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, or to treat the thousands of children on the autism spectrum and those with complex medical needs."
The event brought out hundreds of people who have benefited from the various programs the hospital offers to children.
The Children's Specialized Hospital, according to the statement, treats almost 29,000 patients every year at 13 locations across the state.
