A victim of Sunday's mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Florida did not have ties to New Jersey as previously reported in The Orlando Sentinel and other news outlets, including NJ Advance Media.

"There has been a lot of confusion," said Shari Bobinski, spokeswoman for Orange County schools in Florida.
Bobinski said school records show Gonzalez-Cruz attended Colonial High School in Orlando intermittently from 2009 to 2012. He withdrew from school in 2012, the spokeswoman said.
Earlier reports said Gonzalez-Cruz attended Colonia High School in Middlesex County, attributing his Facebook page as the source of the information.
The inaccuracy was reported in the Orlando Sentinel, in dozens of other news reports and on social media.
Pedro Cruz, who said he is Gonzalez-Cruz's uncle, tweeted Monday that his nephew had never been to New Jersey.
Gonzalez-Cruz was among the 49 people killed inside Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Fifty-three others were injured in the LGBT nightclub.
