2 arrested in alleged robbery of a Wal-Mart with stun gun

A man and a woman of East Brunswick were arrested late last month for allegedly robbing a Walmart with a stun gun.

EAST BRUNSWICK -- Police announced on Wednesday the arrests of a man and a woman suspected of robbing a Wal-Mart with a stun gun in April.

Naomi Gerenza, 50, and Thomas Nizolek, 30, both of East Brunswick, were arrested late last month following an investigation into an April 16 robbery of a Wal-Mart in which a woman loading groceries into her car "was robbed of $80 in cash by a female suspect armed with a dark colored stun gun that resembled a flashlight," officials said in a statement.

An investigation into the matter led by East Brunswick Det. Crispin Farrace who determined that two suspects had been involved in the robbery, and had been driving a late 1990s Audi.

I'm late April, South River police conducted a traffic stop on a black Audi occupied by Gerenza and Nizolek. A subsequent search of the car "revealed a dark green flashlight stun gun with Police etched into the side."

The two were eventually arrested at their residence on May 26.

The two were charged with robbery and conspiracy.

Bail was set at $150,000 for Gerenza and at $100,000 for Nicolek. They were held in the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in lieu of bail.
