A man trying to park ended up driving his car and another car through a deli's front window.
METUCHEN -- A man trying to park his car on Main Street plowed his car along with a parked car through the front window of a kosher deli on Thursday, injuring several workers inside, police said.
The man was trying to park his vehicle on Main Street across from the deli when he accelerated in reverse. He sped across Main Street, hitting the other car parked along the street, according to Sgt. Arthur Flaherty, of the Metuchen Police Department.
He then drove both his car and the parked vehicle through the deli's glass pane window, according to Flaherty said.
The front glass window "exploded inward" causing lacerations to several employees inside the deli, Flaherty said.
The area where the crash occurred is one of the most trafficked spots in Metuchen's downtown, Flaherty noted.
