"Kantroll Kindographs" crayons were first introduced in the 1890s.

CARTERET -- This 1954 photo was taken at St. Joseph's School in Carteret.

A celebration of some kind is going on, as students have cupcakes and candy and are blowing up balloons.

The boxes beneath each row of scissors are "Kantroll Kindographs," crayons with one flat side made in Sandusky, Ohio, by the American Crayon Co. and first introduced in the 1890s.
