NEW BRUNSWICK -- A 17-year-old boy and an unidentified man were both stabbed during an altercation Tuesday night, police said.

Authorities responded to a residence on Comstock Street near Remsen Avenue at around 9 p.m. where they found the two individuals with stab wounds that were not life-threatening, according to Capt. J.T. Miller, of the New Brunswick Police Department.

The 17-year-old was not identified because he is minor. The man was not identified, Miller said, to protect the identity of the 17-year-old boy.

Miller said that when police arrived, both "were uncooperative with the officers and gave conflicting stories as to what occurred."

Witnesses, according to Miller, said that the two individuals "fought each other and stabbed each other during the altercation inside the residence."

The man and the boy were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center. They were both charged with aggravated assault and weapons possession, according to Miller.
