The driver of a pickup truck went through a red light and slammed into the van
A Middlesex County woman was killed and five of her relatives injured when their minivan was struck by a pickup truck in western New York.
The New Jersey family was en route to Toronto on Friday when a 54-year-old Perry, N.Y., man drove through a red light at the intersection of Route 20A and Route 246, the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office told BuffaloNews.com.
A passenger in the minivan, Veena Jethva, 73, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 42-year-old in the minivan suffered a possible broken back, while a 10-year-old boy was taken to a Rochester hospital with a fractured jaw and facial injuries.
Nayankuma Jethva, the 46-year-old driver of the minivan, was treated for a fractured ankle and issued a citation for driving with an expired license. A 74-year-old and an 8-year-old boy also sustained minor injuries when the minivan overturned, according to TWCNews.com. All are from Monmouth Junction.
Daniel Robb, the driver of the pickup tuck, was cited for failing to stop at a red light.
