SOUTH PLAINFIELD -- A South Plainfield High School teacher has been arrested and charged for allegedly "sending two inappropriate photos to a male student" on social media, according to a statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

Mallory Christ, 29, of South Plainfield, was charged Monday with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child after sending "two photos of herself to the student sometime in February," the statement said.

She is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick without bail, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

An investigation was launched after school officials learned of the photos and contacted authorities.

Christ worked in the school district as a math teacher for two years, "offering courses in algebra to juniors and seniors," while also coaching high school cheerleaders, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

She previously worked as a teacher at Sayreville War Memorial High School.

The investigation was handled by Det. Shaun Clifford, of the South Plainfield Police Department, and Det. Felix De La Cruz, of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can contact Clifford at 908-755-0700, or De La Cruz at 732-745-3300.
