Edward Romano, a School of Arts and Sciences senior majoring in history and political science, died Wednesday at his home in Iselin.
WOODBRIDGE - Township police say the sudden death of 21-year-old Rutgers student Edward Romano is not currently a matter for investigators.
"It appears that there is nothing suspicious at this time," Woodbridge police Capt. Roy Hoppock stated in an email to NJ Advance Media on Friday.
Romano, a senior majoring in history and political science at Rutgers-New Brunswick, died Wednesday at his home in Iselin.
A cause of death has not been made public.
Well-known in political circles, Romano was president of the Rutgers University Democrats and an intern with the Middlesex County Democratic Committee.
He campaigned for Barbara Buono for New Jersey governor in 2013 and worked for more than a year at Monroe Township's Department of Public Works.

Rutgers announced that counselors would be available Friday afternoon to speak with members of the Rutgers University community about Romano's death.
Representatives from Counseling ADAP, Psychiatric Services, Dean of Students Office, and the Multifaith Council will be available to speak with students from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Douglass Student Center, NJC Lounge on the second floor, according to Chancellor Richard L. Edwards.
Rutgers University Democrats are planning a memorial service in the Drawing Room of the Eagleton Institute, 191, Ryders Lane, New Brunswick. The service will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and will be followed by the screening of a documentary about Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was Romano's favorite president.
