Two Newark women, allegedly soliciting for a company without a permit, are now facing burglary charges in East Brunswick.

EAST BRUNSWICK -- Two women who were soliciting without a permit on Lake Avenue last month were charged with burglary after officers found one of the women in possession of a resident's checkbook, police said.

Police said Patrolman Jeff Dougherty arrived at the area of Lake Avenue on June 22 at 9:21 p.m. and found Deena Czyzewski and Ciara Pugsley, both of Newark, who were soliciting in the neighborhood for an undisclosed company without a permit.

Police said both women were issued summonses for violating the township ordinances against soliciting without a permit, but during the course of the investigation, officers found that Czyzewski had a warrant on charges against her out of Newark.

Police said officers also discovered she was in possession of a checkbook belonging to a resident of Lake Avenue.

Authorities said with the information obtained from the owner of the checkbook at the scene and from Detective Kim DiParisi's interview with Czyzewski, both Czyzewski and Pugsley were charged with burglary.

Bail was set for both at $10,000, but they could put up $1,000 to be released.
