The 56-year-old has driven over the Henry Hudson Bridge 899 times in five years without paying, authorities allege
NEW YORK -- A 56-year-old Middlesex County man is accused of skipping out on nearly 900 tolls in New York City in the past five years, according to a report.
Jeffrey E. Schneider of East Brunswick owes the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority $46,747.50, NYPost.com said. Schneider has driven through the toll plaza at the Henry Hudson Bridge using an E-ZPass account with a negative balance 899 times since 2011, the report said.
Schneider has been assessed a $50 fee for each violation. An EZ-Pass user is charged $2.54 to cross the bridge, which connects the northern tip of Manhattan with the Bronx via the Henry Hudson Parkway.
Earlier this month, a 55-year-old Verona woman who allegedly racked up $16,000 in unpaid tolls and feels was arrested near the Holland Tunnel. Days before that, a 45-year-old Colts Neck man who cops say owes more than $78,000 to E-ZPass was arrested after police spotted him going through a toll at the Goethals Bridge without paying.
