Authorities are investigating two robberies and a burglary that occurred on Monday in New Brunswick.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- Authorities are investigating two robberies and a burglary that occurred on Monday within a span of about three hours, according to a statement from officials.
At around 10:30 p.m., a female student at Rutgers University reported she was approached by a man brandishing "a sharp object while demanding items of value," the statement said.
After the woman refused to comply, the perpetrator "pushed her to the ground before fleeing the area in an unknown direction."
The woman sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention.
Police said a description of the suspect was limited at this time.
Another student at Rutgers reported he was robbed also around 10:30 p.m. on Monday. While near Hamilton and Division streets, the victim reported he was approached by two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife, while the other man removed an item of value from his pocket, according to police.
The suspects then fled in a vehicle down Hamilton Street toward Louis Street.
The first suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic man about 5 feet 5 inches tall, a heavy build, short black hair and wearing a brown shirt with dark-colored shorts. The second suspects was described as a black man about 6 feet 1 inches tall, medium build, short black hair, wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and shorts.
The two robberies are being investigated by the New Brunswick Police Department.
A third incident, which is being investigated by the Rutgers Police Department, also occurred on Monday at around 7:30 p.m. at the Chandler Health Center on Church Street.
An unknown suspect reportedly gained access to the building "by way of force" and removed unknown items of value, officials said in the statement. No one was in the building when the suspect broke in.
