EAST BRUNSWICK -- A Bronx man was struck and killed on the New Jersey Turnpike Thursday night, according the N.J. State Police.

Dwight Sanders, 56, was struck by a vehicle traveling north in the center car lane at milepost 78.7, Trooper Alejandro Goez said Friday morning.

Goez said investigators are trying to determine what Sanders was doing on the highway at shortly after 11 p.m. when he was struck. He said the call came into the State Police barracks in Cranbury at 11:15 p.m.

"It is unknown at this time what the person was doing on the highway at the time he was struck and killed," Goez said.
