A Middlesex County woman was attacked by two other women before having her car stolen on Clinton Avenue late Sunday night, police said.

JERSEY CITY -- A Middlesex County woman was dragged out of her car and attacked by two other women before her car was stolen on Clinton Avenue late Sunday night, police said.

Police met a 26-year-old Edison woman on Arlington Avenue at about 1 a.m. Monday and they were told the woman's Chevy Equinox was carjacked at about 11 p.m., according to a police report of the incident.

The victim said her male friend, who she could not identify, was driving the car toward West Side Avenue and noticed a garbage truck blocking the street. The man attempted to back up and take a different route when two women began yelling "you hit my car," the report states.

The two women and another man approached the car and told both the victim and the driver to get out of the car. The driver got out and ran away, leaving the woman locked inside the car alone, police said.

When the victim refused to get out of the car, the two women broke the passenger's side window and dragged the 26-year-old out of the vehicle. Their male accomplice then took off with the victim's car while the other two women punched the Edison woman in the face, the report states.

The women assailants fled on foot. Two people driving past the scene of the incident drove the victim to Arlington Avenue, where she called police, the report states.

The victim was brought to Jersey City Medical Center for her injuries. Police were able to locate a crime scene on Clinton Avenue.
