EAST BRUNSWICK -- The 78th annual Middlesex County Fair opened up the first day of the seven-day event on Monday.
"Opening night fireworks were pushed back to Tuesday night because of threatening thunderstorms," said fair president Alan Habiak. "We're ready for the public to come enjoy themselves," Habiak added.
More than 130 vendors are at the fair this year, added Habiak.
New Jersey Fairs and Carnivals Celebrate Summer.
Habiak started at the fair as a 4H member almost 50 years and is now the president of the Middlesex County Fair Association that runs the event.
Screams of joy could be heard as the Super Shot amusement ride shot riders up into the air.
This year the fair has the Star Dust Circus and Thrill show, UWA Elite Pro Wrestling and Barnyard Express, among a variety of entertainment options.
The fair runs through Aug 7. Open Monday-Friday 5-11pm and Saturday-Sunday 11am - 11pm.
