An Edison man is facing more than 30 years in state prison for allegedly selling a man the drugs that killed him.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- An Edison man has been indicted for providing the drugs that killed another township man, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey announced.
Carey said Emile "Oatmeal" Constable Jr., 25, is charged with one count of first degree strict liability for drug induced death, one count of possession of controlled drugs, one count of drugs with intent to distribute, one count of third degree hindering his own apprehension and one count of fourth degree hindering his own apprehension.
The prosecutor said an investigation revealed Constable sold 10 bags of heroin to 23-year-old Aniq Ali.
Each bag contained approximately one gram of heroin, he said.
Constable was arrested on Feb. 25 after testing showed that Ali died Feb. 24 after ingesting fentanyl and heroin.
Carey said at the time of Constable's arrest that fighting the heroin epidemic not only takes education and treatment, but also aggressive prosecution of "those responsible in the deaths of so many addicts."
The case was presented to the grand jury by Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Bina Desai.
Constable is in the Middlesex County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
