Knights build a ramp for a wheelchair bound high school student.
SOUTH PLAINFIELD -- Last month members of South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Council 6203 came to the rescue of South Plainfield High School student Patricia Lacasale.
Lacasale injured her foot in August 2015 when she tripped in a pothole. She has undergone several surgeries to repair the damage and is facing more surgery. In the meantime, she relies on a wheelchair to get around.
Getting in and out of the house with the wheelchair was difficult for Lacasale, which is why her parents called on the Knights of Columbus for help. The Lacasales asked the council members to build a ramp to their front door, giving Patricia easier access in and out of the house.
"The Knights' volunteers built and installed the ramp in just one day," said former Grand Knight Joe Scrudato. The ramp was completed on July 29.
