The identity of the person was not immediately available
MONMOUTH COUNTY -- The State Police recovered a body Thursday morning in the water off Route 36, authorities said.
The Marine Services Bureau's Carteret station responded after receiving a report of a body floating in the water near the Route 36 bridge connecting Highlands and Sea Bright at 9:45 a.m., Sgt. First Class Greg Williams said.
The identity of the person found was not immediately available.
A Newark man went missing Saturday night while swimming at Bradley Beach and was the subject of a multi-day search. Julio Pierre, 31, a recent immigrant from Haiti, had traveled to Bradley Beach with friends and was last seen around 7 p.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for Pierre on Sunday evening.
The Bradley Beach police and Monmouth County Prosecutor went to the scene off Route 36 Thursday morning, according to Williams.
