A 21-year-old man who works as an EMT in Sayreville and in Edison was charged with sexual assault on Thursday.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- A 21-year-old EMT of Sayreville has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child under the age of 16, according to a statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
Christopher P. McHugh -- a volunteer at the Morgan First Aid Squad in Sayreville and a full time EMT for Stress Free Medical Transportation in Edison -- was arrested and charged on Thursday and is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick, according to the statement. His bail has not yet been set.
McHugh is accused of assaulting the victim on Wednesday after they had "met and exchanged information" through Facebook, the statement said.
Officials in the statement noted that he was arrested wearing his Morgan First Aid Squad shirt.
The investigation, which remains ongoing, was conducted by Det. Daniel Ellmyer, of the Sayreville Police Department, and Det. Felix De La Cruz, of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
