OLD BRIDGE -- Doris Cammorto, like many people, enjoys being pampered. But for many seniors who become less active, it can be a little difficult getting around and get the pampering they seek.
Cammorto was one of more than 70 Old Bridge seniors who were offered a day of pampering at George Bush Senior Center courtesy of the senior Cosmetology classes from Old Bridge High School.

"This is a wonderful event," Cammorto said. "It gives the senior ladies an opportunity to have things done, that they don't normally have done," she added.
The students -- and their teachers Robin Leccese and Patricia Palehonki -- set up shop at the center offering members a variety of salon services. Students enjoyed working with the seniors as they gave manicures, did blow outs, curled hair and applied make-up.
"Senior Citizens Spa Day is a great way for our students to offer a community service," Leccese said.
Diane Amabile, manager of the senior center, wanted to do something special for the senior ladies. Many of them rely on the center's transportation because they may not have family or resources to get places to be pampered a little bit.
"We decided on doing a spa day so they could enjoy being pampered and feel special, "Amabile said. "It's great to see the smiles on their faces as they enjoy this special day."
