PERTH AMBOY -- In this circa-1910 photo, a series of terra cotta heads eerily peer out at passersby in Perth Amboy.
According to information available from the Perth Amboy Public Library, the heads were manufactured by the Perth Amboy Terra Cotta Works and were to be shipped to San Francisco to replace cornices destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.
These heads were not delivered due to being damaged during manufacture; when Buckingham Avenue in Perth Amboy began to sag, the heads were used to shore up the road.
