Wilbert Hernandez, 35, of Perth Amboy was indicted Wednesday for the murder of Ramon Lugo, 35, also of Perth Amboy, who was stabbed to death and left in a wooded area off Washington Avenue in Perth Amboy on Oct. 13, 2014.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- A Middlesex County grand jury has formally charged a Perth Amboy man with the murder and robbery of another city man last year.
Wilbert Hernandez, 35, was indicted Wednesday for the murder of Ramon Lugo, 35, who was stabbed to death and left in a wooded area off Washington Avenue in Perth Amboy on Oct. 13, 2014, where a passerby found him and called police.
The indictment also charges Hernandez with possession of a weapon -- a knife --for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The indictment also said Hernandez stole Clonazepam, a drug used to treat seizures, from Lugo.
When Hernandez was arrested, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said Hernandez and Lugo knew each other, but did not elaborate.
