Bound Brook parents owe Piscataway district more than $11,000 in tuition

An administrative judge's ruling that the parents must pay tuition to the Piscataway school district has been upheld by the state education commissioner, MyCentralJersey.com reported.

The girl attended a public school in Piscataway from March 12, 2015 to April 1, 2016.

A retired police officer employed as Piscataway's assistant truancy officer conducted surveillance on the family on 60 occasions. He observed the girl's mother leave a residence in Bound Brook and drive the girl to school in the Middlesex County town.

The mother argued that she lived in Piscataway and she drove to Bound Brook to pick up her daughter when the girl had occasional overnight visits with her father. Her testimony was found to be not credible, the report said.

The judge agreed with the truancy officer that the parents and daughter lived in Bound Brook.
