NEW BRUNSWICK -- Two men were shot Wednesday morning by two other men in a parking lot at the Aldi supermarket, New Brunswick police confirmed.
Officers responded to the area near Aldi's on Van Dyke Avenue around 11:15 a.m. to investigate a possible shooting.
Arriving officers confirmed that a shooting occurred and the suspects had fled on foot, police said.
The two victims, a 19-year-old and 21-year-old, both of New Brunswick, were taken to Saint Peter's University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they believe this was a targeted act and not a random act of violence.
The suspects were described as two black men -- one wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and black-and-white sneakers. The other suspect was wearing a blue shirt.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Drew Weiss or Detective Erika DiMarcello at (732) 745-5217.
