Whether you're looking to trick-or-treat or trunk-or-treat (even trick-or-trunk), New Jersey has a wealth of events for children, families, pets and anyone who likes to dress up for the holiday. 

From now through the end of the month, events for Halloween 2015 are in full swing. Parades, costume contests, ghost walks, bonfires and hayrides are just a few of the seasonal activities on offer in the Garden State this fall.

ATLANTIC COUNTY

  • The New Jersey Researchers of Paranormal Evidence hosts haunted tours at the Absecon Lighthouse, a site visited by the Syfy channel's "Ghost Hunters" show, at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m. on Oct. 24.   • The Tropicana Casino and Resort's "Ultimate Halloween" will be on the boardwalk from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 with a Halloween-themed light and sound show, a "Thriller" dance with the "Boogie Nights" cast at 8 p.m. (the first 100 dancers to register get a trick-or-treat bag), and a costume contest in the Tropicana Quarter from 9 to 10 p.m. 2831 Boardwalk, Atlantic City.   • The Chelsea Hotel hosts "Bizarre III A.C." A level of the parking garage will be converted into a "post-apocalyptic zombie escape course." There will also be visits from stars of horror movies, vendors, and a range of macabre offerings like makeup demonstrations, a ghost hunt, and a monster ball. The event starts at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 and noon on Oct. 17 and 18. The Chelsea is at 111 S. Chelsea Ave. in Atlantic City. Tickets $25, $40 for a two-day pass or $55 for a three-day pass.   • Buena Vista Township hosts its 11th Saw Mill Park Halloween Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 17 with a costume parade and contest, hayrides, apple cider, games and a coloring contest. Route 40 in Richland Village; buenavistanj.com
  • Egg Harbor City's Halloween Parade is at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 at the municipal building; eggharborcity.org
  • The Knights of Columbus in Egg Harbor City runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the parking lot of the Knights of Columbus at 243 St. Louis Ave. There will be a contest for best decorated trunk. Treat bags (required) are $4 per child; visit kofc3500.wix.com/trunktreat-ehc
  • The county is also hosting a Halloween party from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 at Spruce Family Success Center at 3050 Spruce Ave in Egg Harbor Township. Guests are asked to come in costume for candy and games. Call 609-569-0376 to register; aclink.org

  • Galloway Township's Trunk-or-Treat is at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the municipal complex, and will be followed by a screening of "Gremlins"; gallowaytwp-nj.gov

  • Downtown Hammonton's trick-or-treat event, with a "happy haunted house," music and crafts, is 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 (rain date Oct. 24); downtownhammonton.com
  • Atlantic County is having a trunk-or-treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Hammonton Family Success Center (310 Bellevue Ave., Hammonton). Prizes will be given for most creative trunk and costume. Call 609-567-2900 to register; aclink.org

  • Longport's borough hall, fire department and historical museum will be giving out Halloween treats from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.

  • The Smithville Zombie Walk starts at 10 a.m. on Oct. 31. There will be zombie archery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a Miss Underground zombie pinup contest at 1:30 p.m. and live music all day.   • River Edge's Halloween Parade and Hootin' Halloween Monster Mash is at Memorial Park begins at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 24 (lineup is at 2:15). Rain date 1 p.m. Oct. 25; riveredgenj.org
  • Rutherford has Halloween hayrides for preschoolers from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at Tryon Field, 400 Washington Ave. The borough's Halloween Festival runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at Tryon Field, with hayrides, bounce house maze, dance party and entertainment; bring a blanket. Visit rutherford-nj.com

  • Woodcliff Lake's Halloween Bash runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 24 (rain date Oct. 25) at the grounds of the haunted Lydecker House (Werimus and Old Mill roads).   • Bordentown City's 45th Halloween Parade begins at 2 p.m. Oct. 25 on Farnsworth Avenue; visit bordentownhalloween.com or register for the parade here
  • Bordentown City's Historic Ghost Walk, a one-hour guided tour, runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 25. Admission $10; $6 for children under 8. Meet at Old Book Shop, 200 Farnsworth Ave. Rain or shine. For tickets call 609-324-9909; visit downtownbordentown.com

  • The Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences presents "Paranormal 101," with the New Jersey Researchers of Paranormal Evidence.   • Eastampton Township has a hayride and bonfire from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 16 at Buttonwood Park; eastampton.com
  • Maple Shade's halloween parade is at noon on Oct. 31 at Steinhauer School on Main Street. Costume judging begins at 11:30 a.m. Call 856-482-6012 or visit mapleshade.com

  • Paws Farm Nature Center in Mount Laurel hosts its Halloween Bash from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. There's a maze, crafts, games, a haunted house and a costume parade at 7. CAMDEN COUNTY

  • The Bellmawr Trunk-or-Treat has contests for best costumes, jack-o'-lanterns and trunk-decorating. $10 per car in advance includes four wristbands for trick-or-treating ($15 at gate); $3 for trick-or-treating wristbands. 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Bellmawr Recreation Center. Registration and money can be submitted to any Bellmawr school or the police department. 
  • Camden County Board of Freeholders hosts the Shake Them Bones Halloween Senior Dance with live music and a prize for the best costume 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Bellmawr Ballroom, 29 Lewis Ave. in Bellmawr (next to the Bellmawr Municipal Building).   • Camden's Adventure Aquarium will host the Weeki Wachee Mermaids on Halloween.   • In Haddon Township, the 68th Westmont Lions Halloween Parade up Haddon Avenue is at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 (rain date Oct. 31), with floats, bands and a costume contest.   • The Mount Ephraim Halloween Parade is at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 30 at the corner of Kings Highway and Center Avenue. CAPE MAY COUNTY

  • The Avalon Trunk-or-Treat runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the 30th Street parking lot on Oct. 30; visitavalonnj.com
  • Children are invited to trick-or-treat at Cape May's Washington Street Mall (300 to 500 Washington St.) from noon to 2 p.m. on Oct. 18. The Cape May Halloween Parade is at 3 to 5 p.m. at the same location.   • The Cape May County Park & Zoo welcomes costumed children to attend its free "Boo at the Zoo" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 17.   • Cold Spring Village and Lower Township Rotary Club's Pumpkin Festival is at Cold Spring Village from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.   • Middle Township's Halloween parade is at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28, starting at Memorial Field at 15 W. Pacific Ave. in Cape May Court House and continuing north on Route 9 to the Cape Bank parking lot.   • The Reeds at Shelter Haven resort in Stone Harbor is hosting a "Spooky Brunch" for families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 25.
