QuickChek is seeking to open up its fourth location in this New Jersey town.
PISCATAWAY -- The township remains the heart of QuickChek's customer base in New Jersey.
So, to further serve its faithful Piscataway patrons, the company is seeking to open up a fourth location in the township near the intersection of Lakeview and New Brunswick avenues, according to Richard Lamont, development manager at QuickChek's corporate office in the Whitehouse Station-section of Readington.
"We have a project that we've submitted, and we are expecting the approval process to start shortly," Lamont said, adding that it would likely begin sometime in the fall.
QuickChek's three other stores are located on River Road, Stelton Road and Williams Street. The proposed new store is just a few miles from the location of the first QuickChek that opened 49 years ago on North Avenue in Dunellen.
QuickChek's roots in the area go back nearly half a century, with its first store in Dunellen, according to Lamont.
"That is really the heart of our territory," Lamont said, "and that was the area where our stores originated going back to Dunellen. Our customers know us really well there, and we are happy to put another store in Piscataway."
The company will go before the township later this month to begin the approval process.
In July, QuickChek was named the 2016 Convenience Store Chain of the Year by industry trade magazine Convenience Store Decisions.
The family-owned company operates 143 locations throughout New Jersey, New York's Hudson Valley and Long Island.
