The Green Party candidate is brining her campaign to the school's New Brunswick campus.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- Jill Stein, one of the third-party candidates running for president against Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, is bringing her campaign to Rutgers University later this month.
Stein, the Green Party's nominee, is scheduled to hold a free rally Sept. 17 on the New Brunswick campus of New Jersey's largest university, her campaign announced.
Arguably the most progressive candidate in the 2016 race, Stein is expected to discuss her "Green New Deal," an effort to make the U.S. run on renewable energy within the next 15 years.
"My Power to the People Plan offers direct answers to the economic, social, and ecological crises brought on by both corporate political parties, and it empowers the American people to fix our broken political system and make real the promise of democracy," Stein said in a statement.

She also called Rutgers an ideal spot to visit because it's a "place in the revolutionary history of our nation."
"I'm looking forward to sharing with the Rutgers community my solutions for how we can avert climate catastrophe, build a sustainable and just economy and recognize the dignity and human rights of everyone in our society and our world," Stein added.
Stein, a doctor from Massachusetts, was also the Green Party's nominee in 2012. She received the most votes of any female presidential candidate in history -- albeit 469,000, or 0.36 percent of ballots cast.
She's a significant long shot again this election. A recent CNN/ORC International Poll showed Stein in fourth place in the 206 race, drawing support from 2 percent of registered voters. Trump, the Republican nominee, had 45 percent; Clinton, the Democratic nominee, had 43 percent; and Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee, had 7.
Stein's Rutgers rally will be held at 6:15 p.m. at the College Avenue Student Center. Guests will be able to ask questions after Stein delivers remarks.
