Nobody was hurt, police said.
WOODBRIDGE -- An 89-year-old driver damaged two stores after she hit the accelerator instead of the brake in a Route 1 strip-mall parking lot Thursday morning, police said.
The woman and her 91-year-old passenger were not injured, Captain Roy Hoppock of the Woodbridge Police Department said, and nobody in the stores was hurt.
The driver crashed into Batteries+Bulbs, and also hit a dividing wall of Destination Maternity on Route 1 south, police said. The driver and her passenger refused medical attention, Hoppock said.
Both stores sustained damage in the incident, which was first reported around 10:44 a.m.
"That's pretty much it, thank goodness," Hoppock said. "Nobody coming in, coming out. It looked a heck of a lot worse than it really was."
