Investigators are trying to confirm the identity of a man whose body was found in a North Brunswick home.
NORTH BRUNSWICK -- The body of a man was found in an abandoned home early Monday and authorities have not identified the victim.
Police found the body in a home on Joyce Kilmer Avenue after township maintenance workers discovered an apparent break-in at the house and called officers at 9:25 a.m., Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said in a statement issued jointly with township police director Kenneth McCormick.
They said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's identity has not yet been identified, Carey and McCormick said in the statement.
They said the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy.
No details were released about how the house was entered, where in the house the body was found, or how long the body may have been in the house.
Authorities said the investigation is active and is continuing, and ask that anyone with information call North Brunswick Sgt. Paul Pappas at (732) 545-3200, or Detective David Abromaitis of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 745-3300.
