Classes will resume on scheduled on Thursday.
NEW BRUNSWICK -- Rutgers University will resume classes as scheduled on Thursday after a power outage forced cancellations Wednesday and displaced at least hundreds of students from the Cook and Douglass campuses.
The university said it restored power around 2 a.m. to about 90 buildings on the two campus, including 39 residence halls housing about 3,000 students.
About 300 students spent the night at a shelter with cots that Rutgers set up at the Cook/Douglass recreation center, according to the university.
"We thank the members of the university community who were affected during this incident for their patience and understanding," the university said in a post on its Facebook page.
