Backups ranged up to 90 minutes during the evening rush Thursday
SOUTH PLAINFIELD -- Authorities were contending with an accident that caused a significant fuel spill and injuries on I-287 south near Exit 4 Thursday afternoon, the state Department of Transportation said.
As of 4:30 p.m., approaching the peak of rush hour, there were reported delays of up to 90 minutes. Left and center lanes were closed and traffic was being partly diverted to the shoulder, the DOT said.
