8 charged with selling drugs at Bayshore bars

Two Keansburg bars were used as regular meeting locations for drug sales, authorities said.

KEANSBURG - Eight people have been charged with selling drugs at a pair of borough bars, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni announced early Saturday morning.

The charges were the result of a three-month undercover investigation by the prosecutor's office's Bayshore Task Force and the Keansburg Police Department that focused on combating the flow of heroin in Monmouth County's Bayshore Area.

During the investigation, authorities learned that TJK Stadium, 260 Beachway Avenue, and Apple Jack II Sports Bar & Grill, 60 Carr Avenue, both located in Keansburg, were both being used as regular meeting locations to sell narcotics, the prosecutor's office said.

One of the alleged dealers - Robyn Brown, 28, of South Amboy - even referred Apple Jack II as her "office," authorities said.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 200 bags of heroin and over 100 grams of cocaine. 

On Friday, five people were arrested in connection to the investigation:

  • Angela Boden, 52, of Keansburg, who was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, distribution of heroin, and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park.  Her bail was set at $321,000 with no 10-percent option.
  • Ryan Hunley, 33, of Keansburg, who was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, distribution of cocaine, conspiracy to distribute Cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public building, and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public housing.
  • Nancy Pearce, 27, of Keansburg, who was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public building, and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public housing. Her bail was set at $9,000 with no 10-percent option.
  • Charles Peclet, 30, of Keansburg, who was charged with possession of heroin. His bail was set $10,000 with no 10-percent option.
  • Jamal Gordon, 35, of Keansburg, who was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

These individuals remained at large as of early Saturday morning and were considered fugitives from justices, the prosecutor's office said:

  • Robyn Brown, 28, of South Amboy, who was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, distribution of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public building, and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public housing.
  • Jason Venson, 36, of Matawan, who was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
  • Melanie Marshall, 36, of Keansburg, who was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Gramiccioni and Keansburg Police Chief James Pigott credited the Bayshore Task Force and the Keansburg Police Department's Street Crimes Unit for their hard work, dedication, and long hours put into the investigation.
