Anyone with information asked to call campus police
PISCATAWAY -- Rutgers police said they are investigating an aggravated assault Friday that reportedly involved a man shooting at a parked car in a lot on the school's Livingston Campus.
The perpetrators were involved in an altercation shortly before 5 p.m. in Lot 103, according to Rutgers University Police Chief Kenneth Cop. Witnesses reported one person was armed with a machete and a second person had a handgun, the chief said.
"The individual with the handgun reportedly fired at a parked vehicle inside the lot before fleeing in a black SUV towards Road 1 and away from campus," Cop said in the statement.
There were no injuries reported in the incident, which involved only the two people, according to a Rutgers spokesman.
Authorities did not have a detailed description of the two individuals.
Police asked anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to call Rutgers detectives at 848-932-8025.
