The victims – identified as one adult and two juveniles – were accosted as they rode their bicycles behind Pathmark, police said.
EAST BRUNSWICK - A male riding a BMX-style bicycle approached three other bicyclists behind a Pathmark Thursday night, pulled out a gun and robbed them, according to police.
The victims - identified as one adult and two juveniles - were accosted while out for a ride, police said.
The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. behind the grocery store at 50 Racetrack Road, police stated in a news release.
The suspect removed a handgun from the waistband of his pants and took cellphones from each of the victims before pedaling off toward Route 18, police said.
"The victims then rode their bicycles to a friend's house to call the police," according to the statement.
No one was injured.
The suspect was black, wearing a dark-blue, hooded sweatshirt, black shoes and black jeans.
