The car went down an embankment after traveling another 190 feet and then struck two trees, the Georgia State Patrol told the website.

Her passenger, a 22-year-old Tampa, Fla. man, escaped with minor injuries. He told authorities he was asleep and doesn't know what happened. Both he and Santana-Pantoja were wearing seat belts.

The crash took place three miles south of the Woodbine exit and about 40 miles north of downtown Jacksonville, Fla.
