Donald Trump's dig at Hillary Clinton at the last president debate, calling her "Such a nasty woman," has galvanized women across the country who are embracing the comment and turning it into something of a feminist slogan.

Among these women, Jenny Binaghi Lichtenwalner -- a 2002 graduate of Douglass College at Rutgers University -- has decided to use the quip to help benefit female college students.

She is selling tote bags and T-shirts that satirized the comment with such slogans like: "Nasty women are tough, nasty women are smart, nasty women vote" and "Madame President if you're nasty."

"As soon as I heard the 'nasty' comment, I was struck," said Lichtenwalner, of Roselle Park. "It struck me as how women have been treated for such a long time." But Lichtenwalner said by adopting the phrase as their own, women can "try and empower the insult and turn it back around."

So far, Lichtenwalner has sold around 37 tote bags -- which are going for $12. She continues to sell a couple of shirts every day, which are going for $25.

Social media quickly responded to Trump's comment with designers throughout the country creating various spin-off merchandise, lampooning the phrase as a feminist rallying cry.

Lichtenwalner is donating 50 percent of the proceeds from the T-shirts and tote bags -- which are being sold on Etsy -- to the Jessica Lynn Roberts Scholarship at the Institute of Women's Leadership at Douglass College, Rutgers University. The fund -- which helps support tuition for female students at the Rutgers' Institute for Women's Leadership -- is named in honor of her late friend and former dorm-room neighbor who committed suicide more than a decade ago.

She knows her initiative is the exact type of thing her friend would have loved, and therefore she thought it was fitting that proceeds go toward her fund.

"She would love (this)," Lichtenwalner said, adding that the effort was in her honor.
