PISCATAWAY -- A township man was arrested on Tuesday and charged in the slaying of a woman found dead outside his home, officials said in a statement.

Christopher Koller, 39, was charged with murder after 31-year-old Beth Bezek, of Raritan, was found dead outside his home early Tuesday morning with "apparent head injuries," the statement said.

He remains in custody on $1 million bail.

During an investigation, authorities found that Bezek had been "visiting Koller at his home when she sustained what appears to be blunt force trauma to the head," according to officials in the statement. However, the official results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office were not immediately available, according to officials.

At around 1 a.m., police were called to the home on Pond Lane where upon their arrival they found the woman lying "outside the home." She was pronounced dead at the scene roughly a half hour later.

The investigation was conducted by Det. Joseph Reilly, of the Piscataway Police Department, and Det. David Abromaitis, of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can contact Reilly of 732-562-1100 or Abromaitis at 732-745-3300.
