The annual event taking place at the CPA Cocktail Lounge will feature more than 30 participating establishments.
Those seeking a spur of the moment idea, here is one seriously worth considering: Taste of Perth Amboy, scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday night at the ZPA Cocktail Lounge. More than 30 restaurants, cafes and bakeries are lined up for the event ready to feature a variety of worldwide cuisine. Guests will have the chance to sample the flavors of China, Asia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Portugal, Italy and Puerto Rico. Bread-n-Butter Bakery Cafe, C-Town Supermarket, Don Manuel International Restaurant Fu Lin Chinese Restaurant, The Barge and the Latin Grill are just a handful of the participants.
Besides food, there will be plenty of entertainment, too, with dance performances, live music and a DJ. An Argentinean couple will perform dance routines from different countries and children dressed in traditional clothing from Poland will perform Polish dances. A group of musicians will play the cuatro, the national instrument of Puerto Rico, and a Mariachi band will close out the festivities.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students with ID, with a limited number available at the door. To purchase in advance, click here. The event is helping raise funds for the Historic Perth Amboy Carnegie Library with all proceeds from The Taste going to the library. When those funds are added to the previously collected total, it is expected that the total library contribution will exceed $10,000.
But it will not be the only applause-worthy moment of the night, as three of the participating vendors will be rewarded with individual recognition. Honorable Mayor Wilda Diaz will present trophies for Best Dessert and Best Food while event-goers will help decide the People's Choice winner. The lucky establishment will be presented with a three-foot trophy and secure neighborhood bragging rights for the next year.
